Matt joined St. James's Place as a teenage apprentice, spending seven years working across a number of different business areas, all focused on technical consultancy in the financial planning profession: in effect, advising other Financial Advisers.

Latterly, he specialised in Inheritance Tax, trust and estate planning - supporting the managed, efficient transfer of wealth across generations, ensuring the legacies families had worked hard to build would be protected. Working closely with specialist accountants and solicitors, they would consider clients’ Wills, Powers of Attorney and other more complex legal documents, to give peace of mind to those growing older and their loved ones.

Matt grew up just outside Cirencester, in the heart of the Cotswolds, very near where he has returned to live now. He considers himself a reluctant runner, but can be found in the gym or at the lakes for a wild swim much more often. In 2021, he took a sabbatical to spend seven months deployed overseas with the British Army Reserves, with whom he has served since his early twenties; he is also a Director of a community interest company, The Blue Human Project, which aims to make outdoor activities in the Cotswold Lakes more open and accessible.
